Does Pennsylvania allow parents to teach their children at home?

Yes. Parents in Pennsylvania can teach their children at home. Pennsylvania's law on home education (also called “homeschooling”) is known as Act 169. A copy of this law can be found at www.pde.state.pa.us/home_education/site/default.asp (click on “Documents” and then “Home Education Law). In Pennsylvania, children of compulsory school age - children between the ages of eight (8) and seventeen (17) - are required to attend school. Educating a child at home is one way to comply with compulsory school attendance laws.
